Course Overview
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:1- Understand the fundamentals of implant and peri-implant anatomy, physiology, and pathology.2- Identify risk factors that can compromise implant and peri-implant tissue health.3- Recognise and classify peri-implant diseases, including mucositis and peri-implantitis.4- Perform safe and effective implant maintenance procedures, including appropriate instrumentation and decontamination protocols.5- Assess implant restorations for mechanical complications (e.g., chipping, screw loosening, fracture).6- Formulate appropriate clinical responses when a patient presents with implant complications in general practice.7- Communicate effectively with general dentist and/or specialist regarding referral, documentation, and follow-up care.8- Apply infection control principles specific to implant maintenance Dr Ali is a specialist Prosthodontist with a doctoral degree in Dentistry, making him among the few prosthodontists in Australia to hold both specialist and PhD qualifications.He has served as an academic lecturer at Charles Sturt University and later joined the University of Queensland’s academic faculty, contributing extensively to the education of future dental professionals. His scholarly work includes multiple publications in the fields of dental implantology, prosthetic dentistry, and dental education.Now practising exclusively on the Gold Coast, Dr Ali is dedicated to providing advanced prosthodontic care.
