Course Overview

Modern dentistry does not exist in silos. As general dentists continue to broaden scope of practice, it’s important to recognise all disciplines of dentistry are profoundly influenced by the quality and stability of periodontal soft tissues.A Periodontal Lens on Modern Dentistry is a clinically focused, intermediate-level workshop designed to help general dentists integrate contemporary periodontal principles into daily practice.Through three evidence-based lectures and three hours of structured hands-on training, participants will explore:•Rationale and principles of periodontal and peri-implant debridement•The impact of soft tissue parameters on clinical dentistry•Supracrestal attachment and restorative margin considerations•Biological and anatomical considerations relevant to functional crown lengthening•Biologically appropriate crown lengthening assessment and execution•Classification of peri-implant diseases•Risk assessment and periodontal considerations in treatment planning to reduce peri-implant diseases•Supportive periodontal and peri-implant therapy (SPT) protocolsThe hands-on component reinforces these principles through supervised practical exercises to reinforce diagnostic reasoning and technical proficiency. By the end of this workshop, participants will not only refine their technical skills but develop a more sophisticated, comprehensive approach to treatment planning that prioritises long-term tissue stability and reduced complication risk.
